I have Defenders on my Odyssey and have been very happy with them.

Whats the difference with the “defender” over other LTX tires? kevlar sidwalls or something?

It’s both of those tires. I believe they officially replace the LTX M/S2 though. New tire models are exciting right?

I think so, but its been a while since I bought an Michelin M/S so I’m not up to date on their tech.

Dipping doesn’t work pre-facelift on Grand Cherokees. Too much large bright work on the bodies.

I wish tire info was as prevalent as car info. It’s a huge shortcoming on youtube, jalopnik, even those that do testing don’t really get into the details.

there isn’t a lot of ad money in tire reviews.

I’ve bought a lot of tires over the years based primarily on the testing done by Tire Rack, and their user surveys. It’s not necessarily 100% definitive, but there’s a good amount of information to help make a decision.

I used the same. I just wish there was more than tire rack and consumer reports for consistency.

I think part of the problem is there’s a ton of variables in tire testing. A given tire on a given vehicle in a given size may perform a lot differently in a different size on a different vehicle. It’s impossible to test all the different sizes on all the different vehicles out there.

Looking back over all the tires I picked based on Tire Rack info, the only ones I was anything less than fully satisfied with were a set of Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs I put on my old Mazdaspeed 6. They had great performance for their price, but they kept going out of round and needing to be rebalanced. I actually bought them from my local Discount Tire so I had gotten a deal on lifetime balancing, so it was luckily more just an inconvenience rather than added cost.

Jeep Wrangler wheels look amazing on the Grand Cherokee and they can often be had for dirt cheap.

Does look good. But I can’t mess with my primary vehicle. Personal rule.
